Pesawat Lion Air JT-610 dinyatakan hilang dan lost kontak pada Senin (29/10/2018).
Pesawat dengan rute penerbangan Jakarta-Pangkal Pinang tersebut, dinyatakan jatuh di utara Laut Jawa.
Berdasarkan pantauan Badan SAR Nasional yang merurunkan tim evakuasi di lokasi kejadian.
Beberapa serpihan yang diduga milik pesawat Lion Air JT-610, dan beberapa benda yang diduga milik penumpang pesawat.
Anehnya, pesawat yang dilaporkan hilang ini bukanlah pesawat tua melainkan pesawat baru yang baru berumur 2 bulan.
Namun, sebelum dibeli oleh Lion Air, pesawat yang diketahui bernama Boeing 737 Max ini sempat mengalami gagal mesin.
Menurut laporan, pesawat jenis ini telah dipesan sejak lama pada 17 November 2011 di Bali.
Namun, beberapa hari sebelum jadwal pengiriman pesawat kepada Lion Air, Boeing mengungkapkan adanya cacat mesin.
Hal itu dilaporkan oleh Associated Press (AP) pada 13 Mei 2017 silam, akibatnya Boeing menunda uji coba penerbangan seri 727 Max.
Namun, setelahnya perusahaan asal Chicago ini berhasil mengatasinya dan mengatakan problem cakram turbin bertekanan rendah yang gagal beroperasi telah di atasi.
Sedangkan Pesawat itu baru mulai masuk dan digunakan Lion Air pada Agustus 2018.
Ketua Komite Nasional Keselamatan Transportasi (KNKT) Soerjanto, mengatakan "pesawat itu baru masuk dan digunakan Lion Air Sejak Agustus 2018."
"Jadi masih relatif baru" kata Soerjanto melalui konferensi pers pada Senin (29/10/2018).
Selain itu jam terbang dari pesawat ini juga masih sangat rendah, sekitar 800 flight per jam.
Sedangkan secara umum pesawat ini masih sangat baru di dunia penerbangan global, kurang lebih berusia 2 tahun sejak diproduksi oleh pabrikan AS.
Boeing memulai program desain dan perakitan pesawat tersebut pada Agustus 2011, lalu baru memulai uji coba pada Januari 2016, baru mereka menerima sertifikasi regulator dari AS pada Maret 2017.
